About Us

ADV Training

ADV Training Classes teach skills and how to apply them in a real time adventure riding environment.

This will be an off road experience.

Our classes have been accepted by The BMW MOA for The Paul Bachorz Safety Training Grant. The Foundation will award grants of up to $250 for MOA members, or up to $100 for non-members (neither amount to exceed the actual cost of the training), towards the cost of participation in an approved training course.

Some of the things we will cover

Basic controls:

Controls/Levers/Bars/Shifter/Brake pedal

Balance:
Body Positioning: Sitting/Standing/Correct foot/hand position on Pegs/Levers

Braking:
The front brake is 70% of your stopping power.
Trail braking and braking while under power.

What You Need To Bring to the Class

You need to bring a motorcycle.*  It does not need to be street legal but it needs to be a bike that is manufactured to go off road. Please do not show up on a Harley CVO Electra Glide or a Vespa. They are difficult to pull out of the creek. Bring a well maintained bike.

*See the Contact Us page to inquire about bike rental availability

Helmet.  Bring a helmet that’s DOT/SNELL/ECE certified. You will also need eye protection. Goggles are best but if you have an adventure helmet with drop down shield that will work as well.

Gloves.  We would suggest gloves specifically made for dirt bikes because they give you the best “feel’ of the grips and levers.

Long sleeve shirt.  We would again suggest a shirt that designed for motorcycle use because they are cuffed at the wrist and neck and usually vented.

Pants.  A good pair of pants made for riding a motorcycle.

Boots.  This is a big one. Ankles and lower leg injuries are the number one injury from riding an off road motorcycle.

You can usually tell the quality of pair of boots by their price.
You get what you pay for.

Other gear we recommend.  A chest protector or a jacket with padding. There are plenty out there, but we would suggest a jacket that allows you to move freely on the bike. This is extremely important!

Knee Pads.  One of the more important items you will purchase. They are relatively inexpensive and Velcro around the knee and shin and fit into your boots.

Family members are allowed, but we advise against it since the majority of the class is not near the parking area.

We will supply the following

  • An Absolutely incredible learning Experience.
  • A place to park and unload.
  • Bottled Water and various snacks   i.e. nuts, granola bars etc.
  • Lunch: Sandwiches, chips, apples, oranges, bananas.

This is going to be FUN!
